Motorsport Projects
Projects for Technik Competition, many of which became products sold by the company.

Door Pull
This was an early and simple project that proved very useful in application. The goal was to simplify the opening of a racecar door. Traditionally race cars use just a piece of wire as a door handle. Designing and adding this glow in the dark hook allowed the driver to easily find and open the door.

Racecar Mounting System for Data Streaming Module
Another race team had brought one of my headlight kits and wanted to know if I could design and build a bracket to hold a module for streaming live footage from race cars. Traditionally units like these are jerry-rigged in place with whatever comes to hand, usually bailing wire or zip-ties.
I designed something that attached securely to the roll cage and provided a number of modular mounting options.

Porsche Boxster Baja Headlight Bracket
As my CAD/3D printing abilities increased I started to take on more involved projects and this is the first of many headlight brackets I designed.
This time it was to mount Baja headlights in Porsche Boxsters OEM headlight buckets.
spent hours with a pair of calipers measuring, and remeasuring the available space.
These various headlight projects addressed a real need in the racing community and we sold a good number of them to endurance racing teams across the US.
BMW E46 Headlight Delete
Using a 3d scanner to help replace BMW E46 headlights with 3d printed shells to reduce weight and damage in the event of a crash.

Retro-fitting Baja Headlights into my own BMW E30

Eventually I graduated from calipers and this was the first time I got to use a 3d scanner.

After a lot of tweaking and prototyping I finalized a bracket that could hold two Baja headlights.

The final design featured a three part bracket that could easily be bolted into place with any modifications to the stock E30 chassis.
This project was used as an end of year project while I attended PCC.
Helmet/Steering Wheel Hook

Another early project, this time to design an all-purpose hook to mount in the race car.
The key thing was ensuring durability, which I tested by attaching increasingly heavy weights.
It became part of a packaging project when I attended PCC.
